Boyz n the Hood |
| The choice was unanimous, yet a laborious one indeed. In an uspet for the ages, Hopkins & Company was taken down by the boyz from the hood on a mid June night. Skillin's Crib was the setting for this monumental second seed collapse. Our panel of judges (including honarary judge Sam Deeren) recognized Anthony Hopkins for his eerie portrayel of a psychopathic, yet cool and calculated, serial killer/cannibal, yet was dissapointed with Jodie Foster's seemingly bland performance as detective Starling. Meanwhile, Boyz n the Hood stuck to its game plan and it resulted in a simply stunning upset. John Singleton's directorial debut doubles as his best, and the duo of Gooding Jr. and Fishburne take home co-MVP awards. And lets throw Ice Cube in there too, cause he's one bad muthafucka. "Hood" will face the winner of the Y Tu Mama Tabien/JFK matchup in the second round.. |
