| Baseline-1 used a late first half run to take a resounding 44-25 lead into the half-time. Baseline-1 went up 14-9 on a Marcus Henderson jumper, but Skyline worked its way back in the game by forcing turnovers then attacking the basket. Stuart Mitchell drove the lane, then hit a three in the corner for Skyline. Skyline went up by four points on two occasions, but Casey Moore stopped the bleeding with long threes. The first one cut Baseline's deficit to 20-19 and the second have his team the lead back at 24-23. Skyline went pushed back ahead 25-26 on a Antone Anderson lay-in, but that would be it, as they went totally dry. Baseline-1 then went on a 20-0 run to close the first half. Kashif Gumbs and Ronell Wooten got quick buckets. Golden Ingle's trey put Baseline 37-25. Later, with a lid still on Skyline's basket, Casey Moore added insult by hitting a 40-footer at the buzzer, putting Baseline-1 up by 19 at the break. Skyline came out strong to start the second half, as JD Pollock hit a three, followed by an Anderson jumper. Then, Alex Cornett executed a spin and dunk move on the right side, to cut the Baseline-1 lead to a dozen. Baseline countered with a 13-4 run, to build its biggest lead at 57-36. Shuan Stegall tallied seven in the run. Skyline was never able to mount another run. Anderson and Chris Jones both had 16 to lead Skyline and Mitchell had 11. For Baseline, Wooten had 14, Stegall and Moore 13 each, Henderson 12 and Ingle 10. Baseline-1 will now host South #6 seeded Atlanta Speedboys in the first SEBL Metro A-league Final Four matchup on Saturday at 7:00pm. |
