| The first City Conference Semi-final matchup was a classic, as SerPro-2 and Summer Hill battled toe-to-toe for the entire game. Summer Hill led early, then ServPro-2 re-took the lead and with a mini-run going into the half, lead 55-47. Shan Finley downed 16 first half points to pace ServPro-2. In the second half, Summer Hill limited ServPro's offense and behind Chris Morgan and Kashif Gumbs came back to take the lead with about 4-minutes to go. The lead see-sawed for the next minute and half, when Summer Hill made several key mistakes, turning the ball over to ServPro-2, who capitalized on straight trips down the court to go up 83-78. Morgan got a bucket, to get Summer Hill back to with in three with 42 seconds left. But, after a Summer Hill foul, Blake Hill drained one of two, pushing ServPro's lead to four. Morgan was fouled on a three-point attempt, given the chance to get the Devils back to within one. He missed the first, made the second, then missed the final attempt. With 15 seconds left, Hill was fouled again, and made one. Summer Hill made a quick attempt, and after missing again fouled Hill, who put the stamp on the win by hitting one more free throw. Hill only finished with six points, but they all came in the final two minutes of the game, making the difference. Finley finished with 25, Rod Ashmore 14, Bobby Smith 13 and Tim Askew seven. For Summer Hill, Morgan torched the nets for 26, while Gumbs hit 19, Brandon Harris 16 and Marlow Simmons seven. ServPro-2 reaches the SEBL City Conference Finals for the 9th straight time - an amazing feat. They will take on the East Division's #1 seeded Baseline-2 team in the Finals at 4:30pm on Sunday afternoon at JH Morgan Gym. |
