Lights Out For North Meck
The Senior leadership of the Butler Bulldogs seemed to be too much for the Vikings of North Meck tonight. Drew Lowery pitched a complete game for Butler with 4 strikeouts and 2 walks. Matt Long sparked the Butler offense with a three run homerun in the bottom of the fourth off of Andrew Cruise. Paul Taylor pitched the whole game for North Meck except for 4 batters in the bottom of the 4th inning. Taylor struck out 5 batters with 1 walk. Mark McAuley and Robert Troy combined for 5 hits in 8 at bats and generated the North Offense as they took the lead early in the game. Butler scores in every inning except the first, and struck back on multiple hits by Jacob McAreavy, Dustin McWhirter, Matt Long, and David Williams. Taylor gave a tremendous effort in the loss, but was outdone by Lowery. Just when the Vikings seemed to be crawling back the scrappy right hander slammed the door of hope on North Meck's chances. The Vikings never gave up, and were pounding out hits until Williams doubled up Robert Troy at rirst to end the game. Coach Gillepsie has done a great job at North Mecklenburg this year and North should be commended greatly for their 17-8 final record. Butler will move on to the second Round to Play Richmond Senior who defeated East Gaston earlier in the evening.
