Name: Athens Drive
Athens Drive is the Cap9 #2. The Jaguars, state runners-up in 1999, are legitimate title contenders, again. Their potent offense is paced by the bats of Division I recruits Jake Hall (SS, Georgia Tech) and Cameron Mitchell (P/C, Brown). Other noteworthy players include Hall's brother, sophomore Mickey (P/1B), Karl Buer and Adam Paul (both P/C) and junior Hilton Pittman (OF), a Baseball Factory All-American. Athens Drive's defense, though, at times has been suspect. The Jaguars' chances of reaching and winning the championship series will hinge on their ability to play stellar defense for four consecutive games.

Name: Rocky Mount

With Greenville Rose's victory over New Bern (5-4) and the RMSH loss, Rose and Rocky Mount finished in a dead heat for the conference title.

That tie was broken Friday morning when Rose athletic director Tommy Peacock and RMSH AD Mike Gainey met for a coin flip - and the Gryphons lost out.

Rocky Mount (14-6) will now travel down I-85 to Hillsborough to face PAC-6 No. 1 seed Orange High (18-6) Tuesday.

Rocky Mount and Orange met on the diamond for the first time ever during the 2000 season for a home-and-home series. Each team won on their home field.
