New God Physiology: The beings of New Genesis call themselves Gods and live outside of normal time and space in a realm called the Fourth World. These New Gods have evolved due to their close proximity to the Source, a primeval energy, believed to be one of the ultimate foundations of the Universal Expression of Energy, along with their superior technology, into beings of genetic stability and evolutionary perfection. The denizens of New Genesis are immortal, stronger, faster, and smarter than homo sapiens, despite their resemblance to the same.
Superhuman Strength: His physical strength is difficult to gauge accurately, but he has successfully defeated Darkseid at least once. He has also been shown to hold his own against the likes of Captain Marvel, Wonder Woman, and Superman. No normal Earth-made barrier or substance can possibly stop Orion if he wishes to enter an area. Few barriers, even in the Fourth World are capable of stopping Orion. Battles that have had Orion at the scene are known to be catastrophically destructive and often have extreme loss of life.

Superhuman Stamina: Orion's stamina is legendary. Only on Apokolips or New Genesis are there any beings with the ability to compete with Orion in a conflict of any nature. Bolstered by his rage and his mother box, Orion is a virtually inexhaustible engine of destruction. This does not mean that Orion does not tire. In battles against foes of near equal might, such as Kalibak or Darkseid, Orion has been seen to fatigue, only after weeks of continuous combat.
Regenerative Healing Factor: Orion also possesses a regenerative Healing Factor in the event that enough force is brought to bear on him which might actually cause him any type of severe injury. He is also able to call upon his "Mother Box" to assist in healing injuries or to sustain his life energies.

Weaknesses
Radion: Orion and all of the New Gods are vulnerable to a substance called Radion. It source is unknown and its effects are toxic only in sustained amounts or after explosive exposure. The average New God can be slain by an application of Radion from a Radion blaster or bomb. More advanced beings such as Orion, protected by their mother box, armor and sheer toughness, have been known to take two hits and survive. Radion, must be hard to come by, because if it was not, Darkseid would obviously equip more of his troops with it. Perhaps it requires the mysterious Element X to create it.
Psychologically Intolerant: Orion's second weakness is a psychological one. He is unable to reconcile his destructive nature with the more gentle teachings of New Genesis. As such, personality traits such as patience or tolerance are in short supply with Orion. Highly intelligent, he simply has no real understanding of what it means to be weaker than someone else and confuses weakness with defenselessness. He will rarely use restraint unless someone is there to remind him to do so, and his initial solution to most problems is to destroy the offending organism, device, creature, para-demon, etc. He has recently shown displeasure with being sent to Earth and has had to be physically restrained on more than one occasion. |

he Sentry's superhuman powers and abilities derive from the Super Soldier Serum as the serum was increased 1000 times. Making it much more potent the experimental serum creates a phase-shift in his molecules, causing each atom to step an instant ahead of the current timeline. The serum induces a photosynthetic reaction, resulting in a hyperstate of consciousness. Though most of his powers and their limits are still unknown, he has displayed several abilities similarly possessed by Superman. Such are:
* Superhuman Strength: The Sentry possesses vast superhuman strength, granting him the ability to lift (press) far in excess of 100 tons. He has demonstrated several astonishing feats of strength during his career, including easily lifting tremendous weights, ripping Carnage in two (although it is not certain if he is dead), taking Terrax the Tamer's cosmic axe and shattering it with his bare hands, and his unrestrained power overloaded the Absorbing Man. While possessed by The Void he was able to break the Hulk's limbs with relative ease. He can also absorb solar radiation for additional strength. The Sentry has yet demonstrated a limit to his strength, but he easily rivals the likes of the Thor and Hercules. His recent clash with the most powerful incarnation of the Hulk has suggested his physical prowess is among the elite as he was able to hold his own until collapsing.
* Superhuman Speed: The Sentry possesses the ability to think, move, and react at superhuman speeds. He has been observed catching bullets and has also been seen moving far in excess of supersonic speeds; his speed on earth is enough to be gauged as fast enough to move at orbital velocity (5 miles a second). It should also be noted that the Sentry has numerously been depicted as able to fly to the sun in a matter of minutes (where it takes light over 8 minutes). This perhaps suggest that his speed during inter-stellar travels is in excess of the speed of light if not near it.
* Flight: The Sentry possesses the ability to float by unknown means, utilizing his superhuman speed to fly far above supersonic speeds. He has demonstrated traveling to the Sun and back in a matter of minutes.
* Superhuman Senses: The Sentry possesses superhuman senses of sight, smell, taste, touch, and hearing, and has been demonstrated hearing a butterfly's heartbeat in Africa.
* Photokinesis: It may be theorized that the Sentry also has the superhuman ability to generate, control, and emit light. This ability to produce hard-light constructs may be similar to those of Dazzler's when it was revealed that the Void is a just an expression of his repressed persona, and thus his creation. He
* Telepathy: The Sentry possesses vast psychic and mental forces mainly used for holding his physical powers together, though it is not yet mentioned whether the Sentry can use them the way Professor X and other psychics use theirs; the only psychic abilities he had displayed so far is implanting his memories inside Paul Jenkins' mind.
* Invulnerability: The Sentry seems to possess high-invulnerability, and has been seen surviving extremely harsh atmospheric conditions, including the vacuums of space. Nick Fury has stated that so far they haven't found a way to kill the Sentry and Iron Man's scanners found no physiological weaknesses in the Sentry's body (although its been displayed multiple times that he is susceptible to mental manipulation: by the Void, the Crazed General and a villain known as the Hippi who forced him to drink an entire lake of LSD) .
* Healing/Resurrection: The Sentry appears to be able to bring the dead back to life under extreme emotional distress. As revealed in The Mighty Avengers issue 6 series, After Ultron/Tony Stark murdered his wife, Sentry was able to resuscitate her by simply touching her. It does not appear he has control over this power, as he was shocked by his ability to do such an act. This may also extend to simply healing others' injuries.
With Marvel dubbing The Sentry as the world's most powerful superhero, and with the serum causing a photosynthetic reaction to his body, completely altering his state of consciousness, it is nonetheless conceivable that Sentry's powers are limitless, and may even rival those of the Silver Surfer's and Phoenix's. He has very similar powers to Gladiator and Hyperion, as they too were based on Superman. In effect, the Sentry's powers are limitless. |
