Powers
By far the most powerful Titanian Eternal, Thanos is a mutant whose massive, heavy-bided body was born with the capacity to synthesize cosmic energy for certain personal uses. Thanos has increased his powers through bionic amplification, mystical enhancement, and as a result of being ressurected by Death itself.
Superhuman Intellect: Possibly Thanos' most dangerous ability is his superhuman level of intelligence. Thanos intellect is dedicated to enhancing his own powers and to the annihilation of all life. Thanos is a genius in virtually all known fields of science and has created technology far in advance of contemporary Earth science. His intellect rivals those of Reed Richards and Doctor Doom.
Superhuman Strength: Thanos possesses vast superhuman strength the full limits of which aren't known. Death has increased his strength beyond their original limits to levels rivaling or surpassing those of the physically strongest Eternals. He has proven capable of fighting both Thor and the Thing simultaneously for an extended period. Thanos is capable of, ultimately, lifting well in excess of 100 tons.
Superhuman Speed: Despite his massive muscular bulk, Thanos is capable of running and moving at speeds greater than the finest human athlete.
Superhuman Stamina: Thanos' musculature produces almost no fatigue toxins during physical activity. As a result, he has almost limitless superhuman stamina in all physical activities.
Superhuman Durability: Before his "death", Thanos possessed an impressive degree resistance to physical injury, even compared to other Eternals. He was capable of withstanding tremendous impact forces, exposure to temperature and pressure extremes, falls from great heights, and powerful energy blasts without sustaining injury. After his ressurrection, Death his ability to resist injury has been further enhanced. Now, he is also capable of surviving indefinitely without food or water. He can also survive indefinitely and unprotected in the vaccuum of space.
Immortality: Thanos, like all Eternals, is immortal in the sense that he is immune to all known diseases and infections and is immune to the effects of aging. Formerly, Thanos was banned by Death itself from entering its realm, rendering him truly immortal. No matter the severity of any injury, Thanos was unable to die and completely recovered.
* Regenerative Healing Factor: Despite his extraordinary durability, it is possible to injure Thanos. Like all Eternals, however, Thanos is capable of regenerating damaged tissue with much greater speed and efficiency than a human being. His healing powers aren't as developed as those of some Eternals. Some Eternals are capable of regenerating any destroyed tissue. Given the circumstances of his latest death, Thanos is unable to regenerate missing organs.
Superhuman Agility: Despite his great size, Thanos' agility, balance, and bodily coorodination are enhanced to levels that are beyond the natural physical limits of the finest human athlete. His agility is roughly equal to that of the average Eternal.
Superhuman Reflexes: Thanos' reaction time is enhanced to a level that is beyond the natural physical limits of the finest human athlete. Like his agility, his reflexes are about average for an Eternal.
Cosmic Energy Manipulation: Thanos has displayed great versatility in the use of his energy projection powers. He has demonstrated the ability to project energy as a concussive force, gamma radiation bursts, infrared heat-beams, and disruptor beams, as well as form force shields. The exact extent of Thanos' energy projection abilities are unknown, but a single eyeblast has been capable of rendering the Thing unconscious and incapacitating Thor. It has been speculated that the nature of Thanos' cosmic energy reserve may be quasi-mystical in nature.
Telepathy: Thanos possesses vast psionic abilities. His mind is invulnerable to most forms of psychic attack. So far Thanos has demonstrated the ability to project blasts of psionic energy, as well as being able to shut down another being's mind and can communicate telepathically with most if not all beings.
Matter Manipulation: Thanos has demonstrated the ability to manipulate matter on the atomic level similar to other Earthborn Eternals. One one occassion, he turned the Skrull, Skragg into stone.
Teleportation: Thanos can teleport himself across unknown distances under his own power in the same manner that most Earthborn Eternals can. It is likely that Thanos, like most Earthborne Eternals find the process unpleasant and instead, prefers to use teleportation technology.
Abilities
Although he typically avoids combat situations, Thanos is an excellent hand to hand combatant. He is particularly skillful at using a combination of his physical and energy manipulative abilities during combat. He also has great knowledge of arcane and mystical lore.

The Thing received his powers when cosmic rays bombarded his body. The Thing's powers represent the element of earth.
Rock-like Skin: The Thing possesses a smooth, rock-like hide as a result of exposure to cosmic rays. The mutagenic process caused his musculature, bone structure, internal organ composition, soft tissue structure, and skin to greatly increase in toughness and density.
* Superhuman Strength: The Thing's primary superhuman power his his great physical strength. Initially, he was only strong enough to lift about 5 tons. Over the years, through rigerous training and further mutation, his strength dramatically increased to the point where he could lift roughly 85 tons. He has continued to exercise over the years using special equipment designed by Reed Richards. It is believed his strength has increased further, to greater than 100 tons.
* Superhuman Stamina: The Thing's advanced musculature produces considerably less fatigue toxins during physical activity than the musculature of a normal human. At his peak, he can exert himself for about 24 hours before the build up of fatigue toxins in his blood begins to affect him. Incidentally, The Thing's lungs are of greater volume and efficiency than a normal man's, enabling him to hold his breath underwater for up to 9 minutes.
* Superhuman Durability: The rock-like composition of the Thing's body renders him highly resistant to physical injury. The Thing's body can resist extremely powerful impact forces, such as being repeatedly punched by the Hulk. He can also withstand exposure to high levels of explosives, such as being struck full with bazooka shells, without sustaining injury. His body can also withstand extreme temperatures ranging from -75 degrees to 800 degrees Fahrenheit for up to one hour before exposure or heat prostration occurs.
* Superhuman Sensory Adaptation: Though his senses aren't superhumanly acute, his five senses can withstand greater amounts of sensory stimuli than he could when he was a normal human being, with no reduced sensitivity. |
