Weird game with extreme diceresults all throughout the game.
First round was pretty good for the allies, but in the second round, Russia failed to retake Ukraine, leaving it an empty german territory after a draw. Result was a german factory a turn earlier, which - together with Russia going for Finland - led to the fall of Donetsk.
Rostov fell shortly thereafter, with Germany holding Donetsk. Since then, Russia continuously shrinked, losing Leningrad to a combined invasion, then Archangelsk and finally Omsk. In the meantime, Italy lost ground, thx to a spectacular fleet disaster in Gibraltar, losing Morocco in the follow up. In the east, it lost Ankara, which it initially had possession of for 2 rounds. Later, it even lost Greece for a round (extreme dice results on both sides in Instanbul and Greece), having it ultimately shrinking from a whooping 104 IPC peak income to 83 IPC after the last US turn.
But by then, Russia lay in ruins, leaving the allies nothing but an honorable surrender. |
