The Redskins rode the coatails of John Riggins to the championship game. Riggins got 192 yards and two touchdowns in the semifinal. And guess what he was named player of the game.
The Redskins also held Vikings HB Chuck Foreman in check for most of the day. Just 66 yards. Foreman did get 105 yards recieving, but it clearly wasn't enough.
Art Monk had 11 catches for 111 yards and 1 touchdown for Washington.
Washington scored the first 22 points before Minnesota got its first touchdown. Washington lead 28-7 at the break. Minny cut the lead to 14 at the end of 3, but Washington's d stiffined up and the Vikes couldn't score in the 4th.
