"Detroit
 Main Event"
Thelma & Geoffrey of The Elite Whist Society Of Detroit won only one game in the Preliminary Rounds. They were the last team to make it into the "Sweet 16 Playoffs" (See the standings chart below).  They then got hot and swept through the "Sweet 16 Playoffs" to take 1st Place in the "Detroit Main Event" Tournament. It has been a good rookie season for Geoffrey who also took 1st Place at the Chicago Friday Night special Tournament held earlier this year. Thelma is the mother of Rhonda Lewis & Kitty Slaughter two other Bicycle Bid Whist Tour players, who have placed in several tournaments.
The 2004 Detroit Main Event Tournament was part of the Bicycle Playing Cards Detroit Grand Prix Bid Whist Weekend held July 30-31, 2004. In addition to the 4 Bid Whist Tournaments, The Elite Whist Society of Detroit hosted a fish fry, a swim party, and a picnic. A good time was had by all.
